Success Stories

1. Attack-Resistant PUF Design on FPG

  • Project Title: Modeling Attack Resistant Physically Unclonable Function Design and Testing on FPGA
  • Team Members: Soumya Bhattacharya, Soumyaraj Kundu, Ritam Chatterjee (CSE Department, Batch of 2020)
  • Mentor: Prof. Prasenjit Das
  • Project Overview: With ATM card cloning becoming a rising threat, this project tackled digital authentication using a more secure Arbiter Physically Unclonable Function (APUF). The team designed and simulated a machine learning-resistant APUF architecture, deploying it on the Artix-7 FPGA Kit. Their innovation strengthens device-level security and resists prediction-based modeling attacks.
  • Highlight: Funded under IEI R&D Grant-in-Aid Scheme (UG2019036/2018-19) by The Institution of Engineers (India).

2. IoT-Based Smart Classroom Energy Saver

  • Project Title: An Internet of Things Approach for Smart Energy in Classrooms using Raspberry Pi
  • Team Members: Puja Singh, Samarpita Sarkar, Sanchali Sen (IT Department, Batch of 2017)
  • Mentors: Dr. Amitava Nag, Dr. Arindrajit Pal
  • Project Overview: This project introduced an intelligent energy-saving device powered by Raspberry Pi. It automatically detects classroom occupancy to control lights and fans, thereby reducing energy wastage. With camera-based monitoring and future-ready student attendance features, the device is both cost-effective and scalable for smart campuses.
  • Highlight: Sponsored by The Institution of Engineers (India) under their IEI R&D Grant-in-Aid Scheme (UG2016172/2016-17).

3. DropWrap: AI to Prevent Student Dropouts

  • Project Title: DropWrap: A Neural Network-Based Automated Model for Managing Student Dropout
  • Team Members: Arnab Charit, Hindol Banerjee, Debanwesa Bandhu, Agniv Ghosh, Ankita Pal (CSE Department, Batch of 2025)
  • Mentors: Dr. Partha Ghosh
  • Project Overview: Tackling a pressing issue in education, this project developed an RNN-powered model using hierarchical clustering to predict student dropouts. Validated on real data, it enables policy-driven interventions and personalized support to enhance retention, especially across diverse socio-economic groups.
  • Highlight: Published in Springer’s International Journal of Networked and Distributed Computing, 13.1 (2025). Indexed in Web of Science, SCOPUS, and more. [DOI: 10.1007/s44227-025-00058-z]

4. EenTrack

  • Project Title: EenTrack: An Event Entry Tracker Application
  • Team Members: Kaushik Chowdhury, Rohan Mitra, Nabajit Bhadury (CSE Department, Batch of 2026)
  • Project Overview: EenTrack is a lightweight, QR-based mobile app designed for seamless attendance tracking during events. Developed with Dart and Flutter, it enables real-time monitoring of participant entries and exits at checkpoints, supporting up to 300 concurrent users efficiently.
  • Highlight: Successfully deployed in the institute’s events like TechQuisitive, Symposium, AEcon by the ED Cell, and FrostHacks 1.0, serving over 5,000 users without issues.
