Anti- Ragging Cell

Zero Tolerance. Absolute Safety.

At Academy of Technology (AOT), student safety and dignity are of utmost importance. In strict adherence to directives from the Supreme Court, UGC, AICTE, and the State Government, AOT enforces a comprehensive Zero-Tolerance Policy against ragging. Any student found guilty of such conduct is subject to stringent disciplinary and legal action under prevailing laws.

AOT is proud to maintain a ragging-free campus through vigilant monitoring, continuous awareness, and responsible student participation.

What constitutes Ragging?

As per the Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions 2009, ragging includes any act that:

  • Teases, treats, or handles a student with rudeness
  • Causes annoyance, fear, hardship, or psychological harm to a fresher or junior
  • Forces someone to perform acts they would not ordinarily do
  • Involves physical abuse, lewd acts, gestures, or causes embarrassment
  • Imposes financial burden or extortion
  • Causes bodily harm, injury, or endangers health

The Anti-Ragging Cell @ AOT

The Anti-Ragging Cell at AOT actively ensures a ragging-free environment within the campus and during transit. The Cell comprises:

  • Anti-Ragging Committee
  • Anti-Ragging Squads

The Anti-Ragging Committee frames policies and takes administrative actions, while the Anti-Ragging Squads monitor student interactions on campus and in common transit areas like Adisaptagram Railway Station and college access roads.

Objectives of the Cell

  • To prohibit any verbal, physical, or psychological harassment by one student to another
  • To raise awareness among students about the consequences of ragging through posters, campaigns and seminars
  • To vigilantly monitor for any incidents of ragging and prevent their occurrence
  • To address and resolve any complaints or issues immediately

Preventive Measures taken by the Cell

  • Posters and awareness materials across campus
  • Prominent display of contact numbers for cell members
  • Vigilant monitoring in hostels, classrooms, cafeteria, common areas, approach roads, and trains
  • Sensitization and awareness sessions at the beginning of the semester and regular reinforcement
  • Collection of online anti-ragging affidavits by students and their guardians, and offline affidavits by all employees, at the beginning of each academic year in accordance with UGC regulations
