Internal Complaints Committee

Dignity. Safety. Empowerment.

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) at Academy of Technology (AOT) is established in accordance with the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013—widely known as the PoSH Act. The Committee ensures that all members of the campus community can work and learn in an environment free from sexual harassment, gender-based discrimination, or any form of misconduct.

AOT upholds zero tolerance for sexual harassment and is committed to ensuring a safe, inclusive, and respectful institutional culture for all.

What Constitutes Sexual Harassment?

As defined under the PoSH Act, sexual harassment includes:

  • Physical contact and advances
  • A demand or request for sexual favours
  • Making sexually coloured remarks
  • Showing pornography
  • Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature

Such acts, whether committed in person or through digital means, violate the fundamental rights of individuals and will be dealt with strictly.

Objectives of the ICC

  • To prevent and prohibit any form of sexual harassment within the institute
  • To ensure fair, prompt, and confidential resolution of complaints
  • To promote awareness and sensitivity on gender-related issues among students, faculty, and staff
  • To uphold the principles of natural justice, safeguarding the rights of both complainants and respondents

Filing a Complaint

Complaints can be submitted by any student, faculty member, staff, or visitor to the institute using the drop-box at the Administrative Building, to the Grievance Officer [Registrar of the institute], directly to the ICC Chairperson, or through the online grievance portal using AOTmail ID.

All complaints are handled with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity.

Committee Composition

As stipulated in the AICTE Approval Process handbook, the ICC includes:

  • A Presiding Officer (female faculty member, senior level)
  • At least two faculty members committed to women’s rights and social justice
  • A non-teaching staff member
  • A student representative (in case of student complaints)
  • An external member from an NGO or legal background, with experience in gender issues
