The competitive environment within higher education makes recruitment and retention of outstanding faculty a critical issue and growing challenge. The total number and percentage of faculty with PhD are relatively higher at AOT than any other private engineering college of West Bengal. At present 35 faculty members are PhDs and 15 faculty members are pursuing PhD. Average teaching experience of the faculty is 10.7 yrs.

Competitive Pay Packages & Career Advancement Scheme

1. The range of emoluments for Professors recruited from premier institutions is from 10 lac to 18 lac per annum with 45 to 60 working days in a semester, i.e. @ 3 to 4 days per week x 15 teaching weeks in the semester.
2. Entry level minimum gross pay for Professors at AOT is ₹ 12.57 lac per annum and for Associate Professors are ₹ 11.55 lac per annum which are higher than peer self -financed institutions in the state. There is also provision for 75% reimbursement of professional society membership fees.
3. Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) > Entry level minimum revised basic ₹ 40480/- in the pay band of ₹ 15600/- to ₹ 39100/- with AGP ₹ 8000/- (present gross ₹. 10.20 lac per annum approx. and other benefits as mentioned above) for Assistant Professors with 10 yrs of full time teaching and research experience after M.Tech, already registered for PhD & with at least two publications in SCI indexed journals, whereas according to AICTE norms faculty members with 10 yrs of teaching experience are just eligible for grade pay ₹ 8000/- in the pay band of ₹ 15600/- to ₹ 39100/-.
4. Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) > Entry level minimum revised basic of ₹ 30320/- in the pay band of ₹ 15600/- to ₹ 39100/- with AGP ₹ 8000/- (present gross ₹ 7.71 lac per annum approx) for Assistant Professors with 6 yrs of full time teaching/ research experience after M.Tech and registered for PhD, compared to AICTE norms: 10 yrs for grade pay of ₹ 8000/-. In addition professional society membership fee reimbursement are same as Associate Professor.
